Hickory Lane

It all started with two Ottomans from HomeSense! I had been designing this home for years, but once they decided they weren’t moving, we redid everything exactly how they wanted—always the entertaining house – open floor plan with lots of light and white with hints of fun. The fireplace was originally in the middle of the den creating an additional guest room. We pushed that all back to open up the family room. Seating had always been an issue, so I felt three sofas were cool and would do the trick. Being a beach loving family, the pops of aqua – also the color of the Ottomans – were the way to go!

Grass cloth in the dining room and bamboo elements played to a very casual yet cool, pulled-together spaces. The second floor was an original mother in law apartment that we reworked for kids, a TV room, walk-in closets to get organized, kids bedrooms, and an awesome new bathroom with a skylight. The second floor got more navy and white, feeling more playful and young.⁠

The beauty of this project is it is for lifelong friends, who essentially let me do as I felt – within reason – but I knew their vision and how they wanted to live. I created the shutter side wall on the outside deck to mimic the beautiful lobby of Jumby Bay Island resort.
